This RDS TMC antenna is the newer model with no additional vertical antenna/suckers i.e. tidies up the wiring nicely!
Members may be interested to know that (although not listed as compatible by TomTom) it works well with my Go 730 IQ Routes.

And you are saying this unit works with your 730??? It picks up traffic?
What application is on your unit? The reason I ask is I have a NA model 720 and this antenna does NOT work with that model and navcore 8.351 _________________ David |

Yes, it locks on to the TMC transmitter (eventually, just as bad as the older antennas!) and receives traffic reports. HW/SW is Go 730 IQ routes Navcore 8.351.
Sorry to hear that you 720 doesn't. |

Yes, since my previous post, it has come to my attention that only models with navcore 9x in North America can use that antenna while European models with 8.351 are compatible with it. _________________ David |

It also seems that Argos stores (near me) are all sold out of that offer. _________________ Drivelux |

I bought one about 2 months ago (not surprised you can't find it now), but didn't find it any better than previous TMC antennas. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Think the antenna is somewhat more precise in picking up a signal. The main difference is that this model WILL work in both Europe and NA. The previous version is continent specific. _________________ David |

I agree with David that it's slightly more sensitive than the older model in receiving the TMC signal. The main advantage being tidier appearance.
I find that in Surrey it can take up 90 minutes to achieve first lock onto the TMC signal; thereafter up to 20 minutes for subsequent lock-on. Not as useful as it should be! Nevertheless it has still helped me avoid major incidents. |

I have found that with the new TMC receiver it locks onto a TMC signal in a couple of minutes. Certainly a lot tidier.. |

I've been using one of these receivers on my XXL for the last six months. Excellent results *but* I've just heen back to Halfords to get it replaced. The cable itself comes out of the connector at a right angle and the weight of the cable makes it just 'drop' resulting in a frayed cable and loss of power / signal. Just something to watch out for!
