Hi, I am going to buy another power cable as I am going to hard wire the tomtom 1000 in my car. So I need a second power cable to connect the tomtom to the pc for more updates from tomtom Rolling Eyes and update the camera database. Is it worth buying the GO 1000 RDS-TMC receiver cable? I know it cost a lot more than just a normal cable, but does it actually work with/along side the HD traffic from tomtom, or does the tomtom favour the HD signals/info. Also if I decide not to renew HD traffic service in future would the RDS-TMC be good enough on it's own?

Cheers

I don't think the RDS data is used if a LIVE subscription is active. It will only fall back on the RDS data if LIVE services are interrupted or a subscription expires. And RDC-TMC data is nowhere near as good as HD Traffic.

If you're planning on a fixed install, perhaps a better solution would be the Active Dock which uses a standard miniUSB cable for power. You could then keep your existing USB lead for use at home.

Cheers Darren ! Looked for the sock version but couldn't find it Laughing Thanks for the replies, might opt for the standard cable and see if the HD traffic have any cheaper options next year (chance would be a fine thing) would have thought tomtom would opt for their traffic update over 3rd party updates. Another question though is the rds-tmc cable longer than standard power cable as the standard cable only JUST reaches where I'd like to place the mount? I will be using the supplied mount as I'd like to mount it to then screen still.
