|
|
Is there any way to keep a route in the XL IQ Routes 2 when you switch it off. My previous device was a Pocket PC running TomTom 5 and that kept the route if it was turned off. I do some very long routes across europe over several days and it can take a long time to keep re-calculating the route.
Thanks in anticipation. |

Are you saying that you plan a route A - Z, drive A - D then switch off for the night in the hotel, then next morning the route is no longer on the device?
If so, that's very odd. My Carminat clears the route when I actually arrive at the destination, but it and my three other TomTom devices keep a route until destination. If they didn't, when I stop for a 'comfort break' they'd all lose the route when I came back out, but they don't. For example, two days ago at night, I calcultaed a route which I would be doing the following day, then switched off. Next morning I switched on and the route was already waiting for me to set off. I do this every time I know in advance where I'm going tomorrow.
The only explanation I can think of is maybe you are somehow doing a deep reboot? _________________ Dennis

Whenever I plan a route all seems fine, but if I turn off the unit and turn on again it says no route planned. It seems to be functioning OK in all other aspects and while it is left on the routing is fine. I have done a factory reset but still the same problem. I am at a loss as to what could be going wrong.
I have sent an email to TomTom's technical department, so I shall see what they have to say. |

It certainly seems dodgy to me - no way would it be a deliberate function to drop the route when a driver stops for a quick wotsit in a service station! _________________ Dennis

(Moved to TomTom section in case anyone sees it who has had a similar problem)
That's a new one on me too, if the TT is only being switched off and not re-booting.
When you switch it on, do you get a progress bar moving across the bottom of the screen and/or a drumroll sound? |

Delete the MapSettings.cfg file from the Western_Europe map folder, you will lose your Home location and favourites as well as any POI warnings (assuming that device supports such a feature), then try it again, the unit will create a new "empty" MapSettings.cfg file which should hopefully retain the last set destination information - Mike |

Thank you mikealder that seems to have done the trick. I hope it stays this way now. If it happens again I may ask for some more excellent advice.
Many thanks to all for your help. |

Nice one Mike, hadn't thought of it being another MapSettings.cfg issue |

And I, of course, was merely confused! _________________ Dennis

In older Navcores there is a Start-up preference that defaults to Continue where I left off.
Is it there in the latest Navcores? Could this have been changed to another Option?
Deleting MapSettings.cfg would reset this Option to the default. _________________ Richard

The startup option is there on my GO550, Navcore 9.058. But I can't find any trace of it on my XLLive IQ Routes, also 9.058. _________________ Dennis

Glad to hear that fixed the issue, if it happens again delete the same file - Considering where I posted that reply from I was surprised it even got on the forum as the iPhone connection to my home PC crashed shortly after I hit submit - Mike |
