Hi
I was hoping to be able to send waypoints direct from MapSource on my PC to my unit. However I received the following message "Some devices were found, however none have the necessary capabilities. Please make sure your device is connected to the computer and turned on, then try again. You may also need to set the interface option on your GPS to 'Garmin' or 'Host'". The unit was well attached to the computer and showed up as normal in 'My Computer', also when I tried transferring from the unit to the PC I got no such message just a request to know what I wanted to transfer. Is there any way I can get stuff onto the unit via MapSource - like waypoints or topographic maps

I don't think so.

I'm surprised if you can't. The manual for the 3790T (hopefully covers yours?) says it "supports the following filetypes" which includes "Maps and GPX Waypoint files from Mapsource". Might be worth having a look at the "Troubleshooting" section in the manual and if that doesn't help, a phone call to Garmin - apparently they are still quite helpful on the phone, ONCE you get through, that is!.
