I have just taken delivery of a Nulink 1695 and a microSD card containing a map for the USA.

I will be going to the USA next Tuesday and I would like to add POIs some for the USA and some for Europe.

I would like to add the extra POIs without deleting the existing POIs.

I am (vaguely) familiar with the use of the POI Loader and I am aware that it is all too easy to overwrite existing POIs.

The Europe map is in the fixed memory and the USA map on the microSD card.

Do all the POIs go in the same directory or do the USA ones go onto the microSD card.

I really need to get to grasp with the principles and I am wondering if there is a good tutorial for the loading of POIs for two different maps.

I have just realised that my signature is now wrong - the TT is no longer being used.

It's quite simple but needs a little care!

Connect your Garmin to your computer and look for the POI folder (usually in the Garmin folder). The current POIs are in a file called poi.gpi; rename that file to something meaningful, eg my_poi.gpi. Now dowload your USA POIs to the Garmin then rename the new poi.gpi file to USA_poi.gpi. Do the same again with your European files, renaming the fileEur_poi.gpi.

If your original file is the one you use all the time, i.e. with your speed camera locations, then rename it back to poi.gpi so it will be updated next time you load a new camera database.

POI loader also gives you the option of storing the POIs on the card so you might want to keep them with the appropriate map.

Hope this is clear!

Peter
