My TT has started playing up...

Every time I connect it to my PC, I get a screen pop up asking me to perform a Disk Scan on my TT - sometimes it reports no problems, other times it fixes a file or two on the unit.

I've just updated to the latest Camera Updates on here, and copy them to my TT via a batch file (which normally takes a second or two), however it's recently started taking nearly 5 minutes to do it.

It also occasionally locks up on trips out.

I've tried running ClearFlash on it, to no avail.

Methinks the internal Card is on the way out??

It was brought from Halfords on 20th November 2009.

Any ideas?

P.S It's also just offered me a map upgrade of the SAME Map I already have, and it's spent the past 45 minutes trying to copy it to my TT from my PC.

Assuming you have a back up on the PC format the device using FAT32 then reinstall the backup from your PC.

In future when Windoze asks about scanning the device for errors answer NO as it can cause more problems than it will ever fix - Mike

Tried that before, and i'm still back to the same problem..

Suppose I could give it another go, and (as you say) IGNORE the Windows error messages, even though I disconnect my TT properly!

IF the problem continues, any ideas on what it COULD be?

Could well be the internal memory beginning to fail.

I've had the memory die on two TomToms so far, luckily they have both been models with SD card slots, so I have been able to run everything off the card instead. Unfortunately that's not an option for you.... Sad

Have formatted my TT and copied all the files back to the unit.

It's been sitting here for 1 3/4 hour now trying to copy a new version of the map to the TT.

-edit-

It's now 5am!

Just checked the TT after leaving it STILL updating overnight - and after nearly 8 hours, it's finally finished.

Just going to run ClearFlash and see what happens!!

It's asked me to correct a disk error, which I have ignored, and is now going to look for updates via TT Home.

A Couple of MapShare updates, and it seems to be working - so far.

Will take it out on a run later and post back the results.

'dogdays'... I've split your question out into it's own topic.

You can find it here:

The problem's back again.....

It's just taken my TT nearly 3/4 hour to check for updates via TT Home and to copy all the latest Speed Camera files to my IQ Routes...

And EVERY time I connect it to my PC it asks me run ScanDisc as there may be errors on it.

Will drop TT a note in a mnute and see what they say....

Well, you may wish to look at this link anyway, including some of the comments who refer to W7:

Just tried the suggestion in the link via my Laptop (also running W7), and it found an error

Will see how my Home PC reacts when I plug my TT into it when I get home from work!

Just checked it and re-run the updates to my Speed Cameras - and it copied them in a few seconds!!
