Just received an email advising me of new map update. It mentions 'Map Zones'....
Quote:
To enhance your drive even more, the map is now divided into focused, detail-rich Map Zones. Each Map Zone is packed with landscape details and points of interest as well as richer graphics, to give you even greater freedom to move and enjoy your journey
.
What are these map zones? How do they affect a G0920's operation of my Western Europe map?
I tend to use the maps for longer journeys, including across Europe. I don't want that functionality affected.
Any advice appreciated. _________________ Fraserp TomTom 1000

Check back through this section of the forum for LOTS of previous discussion about this (have you tried the "Search" feature?)
Basically, the maps have more detail now, so the full map will not fit into the internal memory of most TTs (but see below for the 920 specifically).
You can download ALL the separate zones to your PC and only load the one you want, when you need it, OR you can install the full map to an SD card instead.
However to do that, you need to use a little trick to get Home to offer you the full map, and that is to move your EXISTING map onto a sufficiently large SD card (4GB would suit), before accepting any update.
Again, further details on how to do this can be found in previous topics here.
In your case though, with a Go920... if you don't often need the North America map, you could move THAT off onto your PC for safe-keeping, and then there would be enough room to fit the complete Europe map onto the internal memory.

Re searching.....I did skim through recent postings but with such helpful members it's far easier to ask a specific question.
I have removed the USA maps already. I was just concerned that this was a one was a one way updated and I'd end up with a split European map. I'll give the update a go later on today.

Make sure you save a copy of the old map on your PC.
If for some reason Home still refuses to offer the whole map, once you've downloaded one of the zones you'll need to reinstall your old map in order to go back and have another go at downloading the complete one.
hopefully now you've removed the US map though it might work first time.
