Is there anyone who has a simple, unobtrusive warning tone for speedcams. I don't want to use the warning voices as I find that they interrupt in-car conversations too much. I have an XL2 IQ v4. On my iPhone I use the "Crystal" sound for texts, its a gentle "ting" - something like that would be perfect.

Many thanks.

Its probably a good thing that in car conversation should be interrupted.

At a guess I would think in car conversation particularly if more than one passenger is involved (Its OK to talk to yourself) is more distracting than use of the hands held mobile phone and they introduced legislation against that.

If they thought it possible they would probably legislate against in car conversation. How about drivers pods to isolate them from the rest of the car? Wink

I guess TomTom's own Polite 3 or Polite 4 is close to what you want.

Yes, but is it possible to replace them with a different sound?

As you originally asked for an unobtusive warning tone I guess thats what Dennis thought he was suggesting with the TT Polite 3 or 4.

I've done something similar.
It's not technically difficult to do, but its a tedious job !
You would have to copy and paste the preferred sound into your map folder then rename it to match the pgpsw .ogg file names.

How may copies and renames you will have to do will depend on which set of speedcam warnings you use. On mine I've got 33 .ogg files so in my case I had to copy, paste and rename 33 times !

However, if you had the same unobtrusive warning for every camera I think that you might eventually not actually notice it which would defeat the object of having any warning at all.

NO YOU WOULDN'T!

Just put the sound file you want into the "sounds" folder instead of the map folder. Either .wav or .ogg format will work, but not mp3.
Then it becomes listed and available for use on the normal sound effects screen.

You can even add your own folders of sounds if you wish, like in my example below, where I've added a folder of my "Simon" camera warnings and also another folder with the old versions of the "Polite" 1,2,3 sounds in it.

Sorry, I wasn't aware it could be done that way Embarassed

That was the way I did it with my GO500 when I used a cut down version of 'Vicki' voices but, of course, each one of those is different and has to be copied, pasted and renamed separately.

Have a look at the "Method 2" instructions about three quarters of the way down on the camera voice install page HERE for more details.

You would only need ONE cut-down file or any replacement sound effect, which you just assign to as many camera POIs you wish.
