After updating to 9.058 a few days ago I have noticed that part way though a journey, or after switching unit off and on the unit stops its voice alerts, in fact stops all alerts, no sound whatsoever.

I reset (holding power off till the drum roll) fixes it, but only for another couple of hours if that. Can happen three or four times a day.

Have done a format, used clear flash tool... anything else I can do?

Anyone else experienced this?

Any help appreciated

Steve

I certainly lost sound on my journey with the new firmware. Not played with it much more than that though.

How can TomTom have released another firmware with yet more bugs than before. Do they ever do any testing before releasing a firmware to end users.

This along with screen freezes and mysterious reboots is something that has happened with the x40 range since new although I have not experienced it with the latest firmware.

I have always suspected it linked to POI warnings, customised sounds or reading aloud corrupted download traffic information but it has been rare enough not to be able to pinpoint the source.

I have also noticed that after any of these have occured there are often errors in the file allocation tables, particlarly lost clusters, that need clearing with a disk check (chkdsk /f).

FWIW, I did a complete repeat of my first journey on Sunday, and it didn't crash or lose its voice or anything. Must be that it matures with age. Confused
