After a good deal of research finally bought a Garmin Nuvi 1490. Generally pleased, love the 5" screen and routing seems good.

However during navigation as the screen scrolls to another area of the route it seems to take for ever to refresh/redraw - the verbal instructions continue fine.
Likewise when in browse mode dragging the map to another area it takes a long time to redraw and tapping on a road to bring up the name also very sluggish.

Is this normal behaviour for this machine or do I have lemon?

Would greatly appreciate others experiences / thoughts.

Following on from this spoke today to Garmin support who say this is not "normal" behaviour. So Amazon replacing - interesting to see if any better -not convinced that it will. It all looks like an underpowered processor to me!
