Hi

Just replaced a stolen 720 with a refurb go730 .

Before making a backup, I know I should have , I removed all of the 'foreign voices' and left Kate to guide me.I also took the MP3 folder away to an SD card and trashed the TT speed cameras

I then made a backup onto my PC.

Problem is that Kate remains silent.I have downloaded Susan who also refuses to say anything.

Music however which I have put into the mp3 folder on the SD card plays really well both through the interal speaker and via the FM transmitter

The GPS speed cameras show up on the map but no spoken warnings

Have I taken anything out that should have been laft there and if so how can I get it back cos everthing removed has been securely trashed .

many thanks in anticipation.,

Nothing immediate comes to mind, but a couple of things to try...

1. Kate and Susan are both text to speech voices. Have you installed a non-TTS voice to see if that works?

2. Do you hear any of the built in sound effects if you start to go through the "Warn when near"setup for a DIFFERENT POI category (i.e. not the cameras) and are asked "is this is the sound you want?".

3. Rename the mapsettings.cfg file temporarily and do a re-boot so it creates a fresh one.

Use Windows Explorer to view both the device and the memory card, is there a "LoquendoTTS" folder in both locations per chance?? - Mike

Hi again

Device is not muted as far as I know

There is a "LoquendoTTS" in internal memory but not on SD card

Have just installed a normal voice but no sound when tested.

YES I do hear all of the built in sound effects when I go through the "Warn when near"setup for a DIFFERENT POI category

Is a reboot a soft rest ... have not done that yet

Do a pin reset on the 730. Use a paperclip.

ok.....

just got back and connected to PC

This time device not recognised ? so googled ,found answer and paperclipped the unit. PC now recognises 730

Changed mapsettings.cfg as suggested above and restarted , would not turn on so paperclipped unit once more and it restarted with the drum roll which,as it turns out, was missing before.

Tested voice but they still will not talk to me .Either TTS or 'real'ones.

and still more..sorry to go on

Picked daughter up from nursery, Australian voice works with no problem albeit a little getting used to

however pocket speed cameras are shown but none of the ogg files make a noise ... is that because of the voice selected?

Perhaps an answer to my earlier question might not be be a bad idea?

Is there a "LoquendoTTS" folder on BOTH the SD card AND the internal flash drive as I have known this to mess up the computer voices far more than once and its easy for the useless Home software to mess up a device in this way - Mike

Also, try reinstalling the Navcore if all else fails as it puts a couple of files in the LoquendoTTS folder structure. If these get out of sync then the voices stop.

For troubleshooting I would run just off of the internal mem.

You aren't using any kind of 'alternative' Navcore are you?

Hi

I had answered the question 'Is there a "LoquendoTTS" folder on BOTH the SD card AND the internal flash drive' above.Only on internal memory.

Just in case you were suggesting it should be in both places I have copied the file onto the SD card.

Result is the same ... no Kate but Australian man still talks.

THe SD card only holds about 40 music files to test out FM

I have only had the unit for about 5 days and have done nothing to the

In the LoquendoTTS folder, you should see a Susan.vde file, a Kate.vde file and a file for the Aussie voice you downloaded.

The .vde is a text file that can be opened with Notepad.

Tell me if the vde file for susan and Kate say 6.9 in them and the Aussie voice shows 7.0?

It may be that you need the susan and Kate 7.0 versions for the 730 where the 6.9 versions were for the 720.

And did you set up the 730 with a DIFFERENT email address than you had an account for using the 720? The email address doesn't even have to be real, just in the proper format of aaa@bbb.com

HI

It would appear that they are version 7 as in .."LTTS7Susan, Susan"

Odd thing is I can not see the Aussie file anywhere in the LoquendoTTS folder.Where else could it be ?.

I did indeed use a Differeent email address for the 730

Try this

Take a full backup using Windows Explorer.

From within HOME remove the Voices and the Application from your device. Don't copy them to your computer when prompted.

Check in Manage My GO that you don't have downloaded applications or voices on your PC - if you do then remove them all.

Now update again a few times and you will get offered Application and then Voices for installation. If you don't get offered voices then add these manually using Add Traffic, Voices etc from within HOME.

Does it make any difference?

I would do all of this without any SD card in - just work off of the internal mem only until you get to the cause of this.
