I have noticed recently that, with no route selected, a very busy road system shows on the screen with very scant detail i.e. roads don't show, curser in the middle of nowhere. This is like this for about 10-15 minutes then the detail comes slowly back.
Any ideas chaps?

I've not noticed that, but then I usually drive with a route set.

It's not just because the display is zoomed out more than usual, is it? Maybe the auto zoom-in at junctions doesn't work in the same way without a route set?

I'm just off to work so I'll try running the journey with my 950 switched on but without a route set.

I assume you mean on the normal driving view and not on the "Browse map" view?

Well, I did my journey to work last night with the 950 switched on but not with the route calculated (and I didn't get lost!)
It's a journey of about 17 miles on minor roads, A-roads and the M4 motorway, and I didn't see any reduction in road detail at any junctions,

So all I can think of is the you might have the auto-zoom switched off? (it's in Change preferences page page 7 "Advanced Preferences" on mine.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the trial. I have checked that setting and it is ticked on both 2D and 3D. Noticed it again today - roads had bits missing and the lag was awful!
May have too many POI's selected as I downloaded lots and ticked them all - I just lurv POI's!!
Now looking at going back to a Navigon if Halfords still have their offers on. Never had any problems with that unit.
Thanks again Andy.
Very Happy

I may have missed the point here, but why drive round without a route set on the TT?

If you want to see the roads in detail, look out of the window Very Happy

Thanks for that Andy. I always leave it on in the cradle as sometimes we go to places unknown and at least it's there ready to go! It still warns about speed cameras etc so still useful, route set or not.

Laughing

I guess you might want POI/speed cam warnings....

Doug, certainly having too many POIs selected to be in constant view will make the display "laggy" but I hadn't heard of it doing the other thing.

Don't forget you can still have lots of POIs on the machine and still have them set to "warn when near" (with or without an audible warning) without problems. It's just having them on the display all the time that slows things down.

Thanks Andy, cross post. Will turn some off and see if it makes a difference.

I don't see any benefit at all in ticking any POIs. I just use them for navigating to or, in the case of speed cameras,I have it set to warn when near.

I get so frustrated when they turn themselves on then I have to go through them and untick them all again

OK - so if you are using it to warn on speed cameras etc then there is a reason - it wasn't clear from your earlier posts.

Untick your POIs as recommended and see if it makes a difference.
