Advice on mobile phone compatability please

Thinking of changing the phone I use for TT traffic (GPRS) connected to my Go720

Has anybody had success with either SE C510 or W995 please

Will probably be either on Vodafone or T-mobile network

As you're probably seen, neither of those phones appears on TomTom's compatibility list.
but that's not to say they don't work, just that TT haven't bothered to test them (like a lot of recent phones).

I haven't any experience of either of those specific models, but I think it's safe to say that Sony Ericsson phones seem to be about the most successful at pairing with the TT - that's one of the main reasons I bought one recently!

Have you thought of taking your TT into the phone shops and asking to try them together?

I got a W995 last week. It paired with my 720 without a problem, and transferring contacts, making and receiving calls, and receiving texts works fine. I haven't tried sending a text, and can't help you with Traffic, as I use RDS-TMC.

Just a quick update - went for the C510 (cheaper) works a treat.

The only little issue is when using the TT for handsfree as well as for traffic updates. To get them both to work have to allow traffic to update with device set not allowing phone calls. Once set change settings to allow calls & data, then power cycle the TT and it works.

I can make calls & get traffic updates at the same time.

Just wish the traffic quality was better ... Rolling Eyes
