Help:TomTom BT GPS Receiver won't work with "Other"

I am trying to make the TomTom bluetooth GPS receiver work with non-TomTom software and having no luck.

If I use it with my PC (which has bluetooth) it works fine - it appears as COM7 and sends NMEA strings.

If I use it with the TomTom Navigator 2 software on my H2210 it works fine

If I try to use it with other packages that just expect an NMEA input on a com port no joy.

The H2210 says that the GPS is there on Com5: for input and Com8: for output but whichever Com port I select the software doesn't get an input.

Can anyone offer me a solution. TomTom support won't help as it's not their software!

Hi,

Is this on your H2210? If it is then you’re probably using a TT GPS Driver over 2.07, as TT GPS Drivers of 2.08 and onwards tend to hijack the Bluetooth stack on the PDA so no other software can use the Bluetooth GPS receiver.

You may want to uninstall your current TT GPS Driver and install 2.07 (which can be found on the download page of this website). There are instructions for doing this in the TomTom forums.
