Wow what a great DB I have downloaded every thing for the EU and it works great on my garmin 760 however I went out this morning to try it out, I heard Andy tell me that there was a Gatso ahead and the speed (great) but then about 2k further on where I knew that there was a gatso all I got was bong bong and no Andy, Could some kind person try to tell me why that was and were did Andy go. I know that I am 73 years old and maybe a bit thick but this got me going and I dont understand it. I did switch off the garmin camera's before i started so it cant be that.
regards

etters, Have you checked the location of your known camera on the submissions map? (Click on the big "We Need You" finger to the left of your question). If it is not there, that is why Andy didn't give you any warning. If it is there, I'm afraid I do not know enough about Garmins to begin to suggest why you got a Bong and not Andy.

Don't forget to submit the camera if you can't see it on the submissions map.

Sorry that was not the cause etters. I'll keep my TomTom nose out of it from now on if that's Ok? and leave it to the Garmin users to help you.

Can you identify which cameras?

Also when you upload the files using POILoader does each CSV file have a corresponding MP3 file?

i.e.
pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv
pocketgps_uk_gatso.mp3

pocketgps_uk_redlight.csv
pocketgps_uk_redlight.mp3

etc??

Hi paulB2005
when I downloaded the DB everything was ok I then downloaded Andy's voice unzipped them and then put them in the same folder as the DB as per instructions but then noticed that there were a lot missing, about half of them and not all the files had andy with them, however I opened poi loader and put them all on the garmin ok. I have just checked the files again and noticed that before I put the Andy voice in the folder all the voice files were there but when I put them in the same folder a lot were missing. i hope that helps

Well I have downloaded all the files again and have done the same thing as before, and now all the files are on. I will try tomorrow and see if it is any better, which I suspect it will be, dont know what happened but thanks to you both for help and will post again tomorrow after the test.

I have just returned from testing my Nuvi 760 with the Andy voices for the EU, after reloading all camera's and voices, I found that there is still a problem with some Gatso's. I am still getting the Bong bong instead of the Andy voice on some camera's but not on others, dont know the problem but I suppose that I will have to live with it as I do not know what to do now.

Double check Andy's question from above?

When you upload the files using POILoader does every CSV file have a corresponding MP3 file?

Hi AndyP
I have just had a look at all the files, and no they do not have all the files.
there seems to be 32 voice files but a lot more camera's some of them seem to have as many as three mp3 files and a lot have none at all.

OK, I've just downloaded both the Garmin Speed-zoned camera files and the Andy Euro mp3 files.

Here is the list of what I found in today's downloads:

pocketgps_eur_gatso_20.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_gatso_30.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_gatso_tba.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_gatso_var.csv -missing mp3-

pocketgps_eur_mobile_20.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_mobile_30.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_mobile_tba.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_mobile_var.csv -missing mp3-

pocketgps_eur_pmobile_30.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_40.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_50.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_60.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_70.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_80.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_90.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_100.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_110.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_120.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_130.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_tba.csv -missing mp3-
pocketgps_eur_pmobile_var.csv -missing mp3-

Unused audio file: pocketgps_eur_var.mp3

Agreed, there are some missing - there are two reasons for this I can see...

The largest "missing" section is the "pMobile files and there is a note about these on the voice warnings page, but basically these files didn't exist when Andy Sidell recorded the speech files.

But more importantly, I have just realised that the Andy Garmin versions (and the Andy TomTom Euro version) were not mastered by me, they are much quieter than the UK versions I did, and have been left in stereo rather then being converted to mono. The 20 and 30 could have used the words from the UK varsion. There is also an error on the 120km/h SPECS file (it says "variable" not "average")

So... what to do?
I think the easiest thing is to wait for me to sort out the mess and remake the voice files, which I will try to do over the next couple of days. Once they are re-uploaded onto the site we'll ask you to download the whole set again.
The only words I cannot get hold of are "provisional" or whatever for the pMobiles - any ideas what I can douse to differentiate them from the normal mobiles?

Hi Andy_P
Thanks very much for all the info, I also downloaded the files again and got the same result as you, so as you say I will wait until you have sorted it out. As you cannot find the word provisional how about (pending) that might do, otherwise I really am not sure.
Look forward to hearing from you and thank you once again.
regards

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear.

We can't get Andy S. back to say any more words, so I can't conjure up a "provisional" or a "pending" either.

The only words we have are what are available in the downloads, i.e.:
Warning Gatso/mobile/redlight camera ahead, speed limit x miles/kilometres per hour.
Warning, this is an average speed camera zone.
Warning, temporary camera ahead.

So it either means using another voice for the pMobiles (eg from the TomTom "Simon" voice) or adding a sound effect to the normal mobile camera warnings, but I've never thought of anything suitable.

Ha Ha I see what you mean. it was 1.52 in the morning here and I was in my thick mode. and here I go again. Can you put the words that you have anywhere in any sentence ie. can you make up a sentence with what you have?? if you can, can you add something like (Warning temporary mobile ahead) then a sound. but I'm sure that whatever you do will be great.
