I have problems after Tomtom support told me to do a factory reset to try and solve the problem of no HD traffic that many seem to be experiencing.
I now get an error message appear after I plan a route that appears on a red background at the top right of the map view which says unable to store map settings : file access error although the route plans, stores and works OK.
It has also stopped tripmaster working I now get the continuous screen refresh and the screen capture utility no longer works.
Tomtom advised me to use the clear flash tool and do a disc check which I have done but the problems are still there.
Any suggestions would be welcome before I do a full windows backup _________________ Malcolm

You mean this one?
Normally that's caused by using a version of the MapSettings.cfg file (in your map's folder) that is incompatible with the version of software you're using. Did you try to put one back to get your favourites working again?
Try deleting that file and letting the system create a fresh one when it next switches on.
Another possible reason for getting that message is if the write protect tab has accidently got slid over on the SD card |

Andy yes thats the one thanks for your quick reply at the moment I have tomtom on charge so I will try your suggestion later.
There will be no problem with the write protect tab as I have a 940.
I am thinking I will need to reinstall tripmaster to cure that problem, I have tried reinstalling the screen folder with a new capture file within it but that did not work _________________ Malcolm

Oops! Not that then!

Do you mean you have a previously-done backup that you could restore?
If so, I'd try it straight away as it's obvious the Factory Reset didn't help.
Next thing to try is a fresh software install, by deleting all the files on the machine that are NOT in folders (leave the folders alone) and then connecting to Home to force a new software download. |
