It's identical to a Nokia BL-5C battery.

The BL-5C only has 850mA capacity so it is not 100% the same, I would consider the BL-6C cell as that offers 1070mA which is far closer to the Qstarz original battery.

At least being Nokia phone batteries they are cheap and easy to obtain (under £6 from e-Bay), interestingly though the part number you have quoted seems a little strange, the HX part denotes a Holux spec battery IIRC - Mike

I stand corrected. The original Nokia battery in my N70 does not state its capacity.

Can you measure the existing battery using something like vernier calipers, a ruler might suffice though.

The Nokia BL5C and BL6C do differ in thickness by a slight amount, but this is where the extra capacity comes from:

BL5C = 5,3MM Thick
BL6C = 6,25MM Thick

As there is nearly 1MM difference it may well prevent the rear cover going back in place, but the extra capacity leads me to think the BL6C is the cell they have used on the device you have, measure what you have got with the device and report back as this could be of interest to others with the same GPS receiver - Mike

Hi Mike Iv only got a ruler it appears to be a tad over 6mm so it looks like its the bl-6c i need and the back should go on ok.
Thanks for all your help

Measured:
BL-5C out of an N70 5.5mm
HDB N3650B-SAN1100 out of a BT-q818 6.1mm

Late post to this thread I know, but someone else might trip over it like I did and find it useful!

I've got two BT-Q1000X models. One came with the same battery referred to in this post - the HX-N3650B-G. The other came with a "HX-N3650A-G". These batteries appear identical except for the colour of the wrapper, and they're interchangable between units (I bought the second unit when the first one stopped working - it was by swapping the batteries I found out the fault lay in the battery, not the GPS). So if you want a "best match" replacement for your BT-q818 battery the HX-N3650A should work a treat.

I've also got a Nokia BL-5C battery here that I've just tried out. It fits and works fine, though it is a little smaller than the OEM battery - both in length and width. The springs for the battery contacts seem to take up the slack fine because although there is a little play once the battery is in, its quite firm and even at the extreme of the play it doesn't lose contact. I've just ordered a Nokia BL-6C to try; if it fits I'll post the details.

Further to my previous post, the non-genuine Nokia BL-6C arrived in the mail the other day. It also fits fine in the BT-Q1000X battery compartment. Being a cheapskate and getting a AUD $4 non-genuine li-ion battery off ebay was a bad idea though - I only get 12 hours tracking out of the thing before it goes flat! Confused
The additional cheap (AUD $3) BL-5C battery I bought from the same place does better - about 20 hours. Lighter weight but still not great Smile
Haven't tested the longevity of the old, genuine Nokia BL-5C I've got from an old phone.

Bottom line is that the BL-6C definitely fits.
