I use a POI category called Favourites on the ONE V1 that I have just replaced with a new GO520.

Can I transfer these POIs over and if so what files do I need please?

As long as your Favourites file is a true ov2 Custom POI file it will be named favourites.ov2 and favourites.bmp both these files need to be copied to the active map folder on your new device.

If you have been using the built in Favourites option then the locations are kept in the MapSettings.cfg file which can be converted to a custom POI file for using on the newer device, have a look in the FAQ page near the top of this forum section and the last FAQ on that page details what to do - DO NOT copy the MapSettings.cfg file from the old unit to the new one as it won't work - Mike

I moved over to the custom POIs about 6 months ago Mike..........after reading the usual good advice on here.

I have the files you mentioned but just wanted to be sure they were OK to move to a different model.

Cheers.

The ov2 and bmp files that make up a Custom POI can be installed on to any TomTom device, even an iPhone TT app if the phone is JailBroken, this is one of the major advantages of using the Custom POI file instead of the built in Favourites function.

Consider renaming both the Favourites.ov2 and Favourites.bmp to :

_Favourites.ov2
_Favourites.bmp

The addition of the _ forces the _Favourites POI file to appear at the top of the list making it easier to find on the device - Mike
