This doesn't seem to be a common problem but can anyone help? It used to be only occasionally but it is becoming more frequent that when I connect my 940 to my PC (and it has now started happening on two PCs) and click on Yes to connect, the TT decides to reboot and then I get a crash dump on my PC (Windows 7). This still happens after I formatted the TT and restored a previous backup and let TTH reinstall the latest Navcore (not 9). Chkdsk finds no probs on the 940.

At first I thought it might be something to do with my MicroSD card as it stopped when I took it out but I have not yet put back the card and it has started doing it again.

Any ideas?

TIA

Is TomTom Home running on your PC (even if its just in the background) when you connect? - I would make sure that its not running at all on the PC then try plugging the device in and out quite a few times, if its OK after say 10 connections start Home and repeat, does it crash or not?

I am not too sure Home is designed to work with Windows 7 and have seen a number of posts on this (and other) GPS related forms where users are having "fun" - Mike

Hi Mike

No TTH does not autostart on my computers (I don't like things running in the background when they are unnecessary) so it's not that.

Thanks

Nothing running?
There are three parts of Home as far as I know:
TomTomHOMEService.exe
TomTomHOMERuntime.exe
TomTomHOMERunner.exe

Unless you've done a registry hack to stop it, at least the Service part is still run at boot up.

Have you tried deleting any reference to the TomTom in Device Manager?
Windows should reinstall it on the next boot up and connection
