I believe the lightning symbol disappears when fully changed. Testing mine at the mo to see if that is indeed the case.

Its seems you are correct on that. Since i have done the download my active 10 is not picking up my sd map in GPS mode i have re installed the card while i have a signal but no luck . When i do re insert the card the satmap does say sd card inserted but i am still left with the base map. Any ideas . Thanks

I see from the manual that you now have to wait about 5 seconds before you get the map title up. Also there's the following you could try (if you haven't already)
Quote:
(GPS Map → POSITION INFO via centre
press → Map Packs)
(Available once a map card is inserted).

Alternative access:
PLANNING → POSITION INFO via centre
press → Map Packs
Any good?

Interested that you have a base map - is that the world base map? If so, I wonder if they've done away with the original street level map (with road names) - unless there's more room on the card, they used to say you could only have one or the other.

An obvious question Embarassed but you have tried to zoom in - after the update you are initially presented with the view fully 'zoomed out'.
There has been a problem of a few cards failing during use, but I don't think this is likely in your case as the unit is still seeing the card. As you have another problem it might be worth a reinstall of the software, but a quick call to Satmap may be in order first.

Yes mine seems to be taking longer to get a lock after the update, thought it was just me.

I also had a POI file which imported via Satsync with no problem prior to the update but won't install now.I have sent it to Satmap to see if they can shed any light on it.

My unit was never particularly fast, but I've not noticed any deterioration in speed of lock. In fact my impression was that it was slightly faster.

I telephoned satmap and went through a procedure of trying to get the unit to recognise my card , no luck . The card is being sent back for testing. I believe the reason for the slow sat pick up is that it is like having a new unit and the initial start will take a lot longer , then it should be a back as it would have been previously (i hope so as this unit was a massive improvement to etrex legend). must admit i do like the screen shot.
