I have a tomtom one xl with version 8 firmware.

TomTom removed the interface for the SDK (Software Developers Kit) some time ago and since this getting third party applications working on the devices has been troublesome, for this reason the excellent POI Capture utility doesn't work any longer - Mike

Thanks Mike, I'll carry on trying to remember camera locations by geographical points.

You could use a gps data logger, mine is on a keyyring and you just press a button to mark the location, but then transfer from route when home as shown on google road map or aerial map.
