Hi All,
Just something ive always wondered, as it always seems to be true in my case at least, but is there any truth if you have a larger map on your TomTom/pda unit at start-up it will take longer to get a `fix`?
i.e, If i switched on my PDA/Go with a WE map, that would take longer for it to get a`fix rather then if i had a UK&ROI map ready at startup?
Thanks

i can't see it making any difference. However, if you travel to western europe with the tomtom turned off THEN turn it on it will take longer to get a satellite fix after travelling so far from it's last known position.

What you will find with the larger map is it takes slightly longer to locate citys when searching as the database is so much larger, this certainly won't affect GPS position fix time - Mike |

Thanks Guys, I did think that it might take a bit longer if there is more info to process. Concludes my theory. _________________ TomTom 700 GO user since Dec 2005.
