I have been planning a couple of routes on may satmap this week, i did this with the usb cable connected and thought that it would also be charging at the same time , i was spending a hour or two at a time every other day untill saturday night when i got everything packed into my rucksack ready for my walks, satmap was showing 4 bars with the lighting symbol so i thought it was fully charged. when i got to my destination i switched satmap on and it was only showing two bars so i was a bit concerned as to why ,2mins later i got a message saying battery critical and will power down after 30secs.I thought i might have got a hour or two from two bars . luckily i took a map and compass and was able to complete one of the routes ,tyhis is my only gripe with this unit , not knowing when your battery is fully charged. I have also noticed that if you get any slight movement frfom that silly plug connector that you you slide in the 3 pin plug it stops charging it just doesent lock in firmly. Anyone got any tips on how to improve this . Thanks

I seem to remember in some previous post somewhere that someone mentioned that the battery charge indicator would be improved in the next software update. Before a walk or ride I always make sure the Active 10 is left charging overnight at least to ensure a full battery.

Not quite sure which connector you mean from your description. The one that connects the Li-Pol battery to the unit is indeed pathetic and any persistent use of it will surely break it,I don't know how it got past quality control.

If you mean the cable that connects the unit to the PC,yes mine isn't a brilliant fit but it does work.I think you can use any standard lead for it not just the Satmap one.

Don't forget the unit is under warranty for two years so if the plug ( whichever one it is ) doesn't work properly then contact Satmap.

Thanks for the reply , its the connector that you have to slide in to the power plug that you plug into the electric socket.

Oh I see.

Once again it is only a standard USB to mini USB lead so you can use any,try swapping it for the one that connects the Active10 to the PC to see if it improves.

If not ring/e-mail Satmap.

Thanks, i think i will give them a call, as the the connector is not a good fit ,the slightest nudge of the cable and you lose power to the satmap.
