Garmin Nuvi 205wt

Yesterday I received my ne satnav and found in the box the Quick Start Manual. Looking on the internet for a full Owners Manual I found it to be 64 pages long and available as a download.

On enquiring by phone to Garmin this morning I was told that they do not issue Owners Manuals only make them available as a download.

This seems a bit harsh - any views on this please?

By not printing a manual it
- saves costs (printing and transportation)
- saves paper
- allows the on-line manual to updated / corrected when needed
- allows the user to elect to print any pages he / she deems fit (i.e. print 2-3 pages instead of all 64)

It's also been the policy of many technology manufacturers these days. Many printers now only come with a Quick-Start sheet and no printed manual.

If they where to provide a printed manual someone else would probably complain it's un-necessary and should be on-line to save resources!

Thanks Paul. It's great that they don't include the manual - it saves paper and printing costs, and so the environment. I've always used the on-line version and never had any problems; in fact, it's easier as you can look for specific information quicker using the search tool! Wow!

In addition, I've found the "Help" files already on my nuvi to be useful a couple of times. Many owners don't even know they are there.
