For me, the BT receiver uses Com 8

Some wired GPS use Com 1 so it really depends on which type of receiver you are using.

is port 8 always the BT port on 2210?

Mostly, but it depends on what other drivers you have installed, something may have grabbed the com port and it will then be assigned another COM port.
