865T Now Bricked

The 865T has a similar problem to the 765T entering the dead zone. My 765T lasted 18 hours before dying. My supplier kindly replaced it with a 865T which has lasted a week before dying. It hangs on Loading Maps and won't go anywhere.

Webupdater tells me there are no updates despite the 865T exhibiting the exact problems they describe and support website saying an update will fix the problem. Garmin support suggest sending it back for a replacement - now there's a surprise!

I am past the point of no return with Garmin products and after two serious problem units (different models) in just over a week there is no way I am going to get another.

Any suggestions guys/gals for a good unit that has excellent hands free and traffic info that does not cost an arm and a leg?

I changed mine for a TomTom 730T. You can get a 730 and get the traffic (TMC) lead from Currys for £4.97 and it becomes a 730T (I didn't find that out till after I exchanged mine).

The 730 does everything the 765 does apart from playing the phone output over my car radio. I find the unit more intiutive to use and the directions slightly better (more informative).
