I have just wired my autocom 150 duo to my Triumph sprint as per autocoms instructions, and everything works fine apart from when I fit the charger to the tomtom unit then I get a loud clicking sound, this only occurs when the charger is plugged in.
When I revert back to a portable battery for the autocom unit there is no interference at all, even with the tomtom charger.
Any ideas.
Just checked it again, now when i plug in the charger the tomtom powers off,as before ,with the portable 9v battery everything works fine,it seems that I can't have the autocom powered by the bike and the tomtom charging simultaneousley.
The model is a tomtom onev3 which i have added an earphone jack socket to . |

I am by no means an expert but a loud clicking is possibly caused by your ignitin system. I have a Rider 2 on my Honda Deauville connected to an Autocom via the latter's Bluetooth adapter and have had no problems with it at all. If you have yur TT hard-wired to the Autocom unit you might need to improve the screening of the cable, particularly if the cable is routed close to ignition components. _________________ Colin |

Run the audio cable from the TomTom through a ground loop issolator, this will get rid of the interference/ noise - Mike |

Although not on a bike but in a Caterham 7. I have no problem with my Tomtom and Autocom. I was supplied with an isolated cable which I was told would be necessary if both items were powered by the car battery. |

Thanks guys, spoke to autocom on Friday and they confirmed the need for a isolator, powering both units from the bike creates a 'ground loop'.
Ordered one yesterday, will let you know if everything works out ok. |
