hi,
Last week I noticed that the voice commands coming out of my nuvi was not clear and after 5-10 minutes, it stopped.
I switched it off and turned on, no voice again.
I plug headphones and the sound was there.
Apparently it seems that speaker is dead.

Anyway I can find /buy new speaker or any other suggestion.

It might not be the speaker thats gone, it could be something as simple as fluff/ debris that has got into the headphone socket, try giving it a good blow out and re-insert the headphone plug a number of times with the socket pointing downwards (gravity assist to drop any rubbish out of the socket) - Mike

In addition to the things Mike has suggested, have a read of this: http://www.sharc.net/gps_audio_repair.htm

(Even with shipping, SHARCNET's (Jim Mounts) repair service would work out quite a bit cheaper than Garmin's).

If you want to have a go yourself, here's some dismantling instructions.

If you ascertain that it is indeed the speaker, I've got a spare I could let you have.

Thanks mike and phil.
I am sure it is speaker, and coil is gone, because I never used headphone socket, so it couldn't be headphone jack.
Is there anyway that I could buy a speaker online? Phil thanks for the offer, but you might need later one for yourself. If you think you will not require it later than thanks for the offer, and let me know how can I get it?

I seem to have four spares...(don't ask!)

Gents, my Nuvi 310 also lost its sound a couple of weeks ago. I contacted Garmin Customer support and pointed out that European law states that goods have to be fit for purpose for 2 years regardless of a manafacturers length of guarentee. They gave me instructions to return it to them. I expected it to be repaired but they actually replaced it with a refurbished 360 which arrived 3 working days after I posted mine. The only cost to me was the recorded postage to them (£5.40) and I ended up with a better machine. I am well impressed with them!

By the way, I've "Knighted" Phil as an honorable "Nuvi Touchscreen Guru"

If Phil can't fix it.... it can't be fixed!
