i3 power problem

Hi - My Garmin i3 has developed a problem with powering up

Sometimes it will power up OK either on batteries or power lead but mostly it won't unless I take out the batteries & disconnect the power lead and then replace the batteries & power lead (it generally will not power up on batteries (and I have tried new batteries)

I have tried the "3 button reset" - no change in powering up problem

The next thing I tried was a firmware change, I was running 3.40 firmware (without problems) but when this issue started, I downgraded to 2.70 to see if that would help, unfortunately not.

The problem also does not seem to be related to a faulty USB connector as I have tried to move the plug around in the socket and no effect - if it is powered up it stays powered up, if it is not powered up then it stays off.

I have had the i3 for a few years and it has proven to be totally reliable -until now!!!

Any ideas on how to solve this problem are welcome - I have searched the forums but could find no other similar issues.

nearly like my problem but mine powers up ok, just goes off as soon as i try to do anything to update it
