Hello everyone..
Reading all your nice responses but could not find what I am looking for.
Live in Los Angeles and have 3450 Navman and IPAQ 5550. The Navman came with the Smart v2 software. The question is, I ride a motorcycle and want a software that I can place Waypoints for my trip. The Smart does not do that for me. Do you have any recommendations as to what I can use? I like to keep the 3450 if possible. 8)
Thank you for you responses.

You can use Mapopolis or CoPilot for that, or PocketMap Navigator. There will also soon be a version 3 of TomTom that can handle waypoints.
It will depend more on how you create your waypoints - do you plan ahead or decide impulsively? _________________ Lutz

I like to plan my waypoints ahead of time.
Plan the ride between A - B then B - C the C - D then D - A for example.
Which ones do you recommend...or should I wait for the new TomTom.
Thanks again for your response.
Regards

Hi Lutz, follow up to my response,
does the TomTom work on the NavMan and 5550 Ipaq?
Does this mean I have to unistall the Smarts?
thanks

yes, it will work. No, you don't have to uninstall. (there's one small twist - you should not install a new TomTom GPS driver, but use 2.07 . The newer versions are usurping the BT stack and will not allow you to run other programs against the SPP.. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz
when do we expect the new Tom Tom to be out for the U.S. market?

there is no date set yet. All we heard was "somewhere in summer"
Interestingly the 3.01 update that you can download from the TomTom site does already contain the US variant (with all the special US wordings). So you could run TomTom Nav 3 US already - just not with US maps. _________________ Lutz

From the Navigator 3 section of the TomTom support site (search on USA):
Question
I have USA and European maps for TomTom Navigator 2, should I upgrade now?
Answer
The release of TomTom Navigator 3 USA is planned in May. If you have both USA and European maps you can use the upgrade offer twice, or use TomTom Navigator 2 until TomTom Navigator 3 USA is released. Then you can upgrade all products in one go.
Obviously if you use the upgrade offer twice, you have to pay twice! I would think that Navigator 3 USA will be available to buy (for non-upgrade customers) around the time that upgrades become available if not sooner.
Of course, Lutz may have first-hand information than I don't have.

I wish I had more info. Unfortunately TomTom USA are more or less incommunicado, and all my (scarce) information comes from TomTom in Europe. _________________ Lutz
