My m8 has given me the above TT to have a look at. I don't know a lot, but more than him Laughing The problem is post codes for GB. When you click on postcodes you are only presented with what looks like Dutch towns. There is no way of entering the GB ones. should the one xl have GB postcodes? He has the western european map installed. In my computer, where I keep my backups for tt I have a zip folder with "Great_ Britain_Postal" and Great Britain postal.ver. Will this put the postcodes on his xl and if so where do I put it. Thank you.

Yes you can copy the two GB Postcode files from your PC to his XL, the files need to go in the folder named "zip" (without the "") if the folder doesn't exist in the root of the device simply create it - Mike

Hi Mike. Thank you for the reply. The 2 files are already in a folder called "zip" so if it doesn't have one I can just copy over that folder? Does it have to go in the map folder or just with all the folders? Will this also fix the problem that when you try to "navigate to city centre" you are again presented with Dutch ones. Thanks.

Just copy the zip folder to the drive letter associated with the TomTom when looking at Windows Explorer, this way the folder will be put in the correct location, it needs to be in the root of the device, it doesn't go in to any folder.
When you press "Navigate To" / Address/ City center there should be a flag with a country name near the top right of the screen, tap that and select United Kingdom I suspect its been set to "Netherlands" by mistake or simply forgotten about following a trip over there - Mike

I understand Mike, will do. I have a 720 and get the option to change maps but unfortunately it isn't showing on the xl.

what Mike is suggesting isn't the option to change maps... that's something different.

When you go to Navigate to../Address/City Centre there should be a small country flag on the same screen.
I'll try to dig out a picture of it...

I think this came in with v7 software and maps...

Tap the flag and it should give you the option to change country.

all this affects is how it searches for your text entry. It doesn't 'switch maps'.

There's the problem then... v675 maps.
The country flag to speed up city searches came in with v7 maps if I remember correctly.
you should still be able to search for UK cities, but I think the system searches for cities in EVERY country as you start to enter the name so it is a lot slower.

But you should still be able to search for UK cities... are you saying it ONLY finds Dutch ones?
Can you 'Browse map' and drag the map over to the UK?

Hi Andy_P. I am waiting for my m8 to bring me the lead to connect to my computer. The battery is a bit low at the moment. Once I have connected it I will let you know what I have found.

Hello Andy. I thought I would let you know that everything is ok now. Installed the postcodes and everything works as it should. Thank you.
