This is a curiosity not a serious problem. For some time I have had two icons that came from this site, and replaced the original ones. They show up in My Computer. The one on the internal memory is called tomtom.ico, and the one on the SD card is TT_SD.ico. After updating to navcore 8.350, the internal one had reverted to the original picture of the hands in a red circle.
I tried copying it from my backup, letting it overwrite it. Then I deleted it and copied it from a different backup. But each time the picture of the icon changes back to the TT one.
Even more odd is that if I open in Windows Picture Manager or Paint, the correct picture of the device appears.
As I said, it's not a problem, I just wonder if anyone can satisfy my curiosity. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Have you had this answered elsewhere? It's the second time I've seen a post about this tonight.
Anyway, you also need a file called autorun.inf customised for each place to tell Windows to use the new icon.
For example the one for my 720's SD card is:
[autorun]
#action=Run TomTom HOME
#open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom 720 SD card
icon=TT_SD.ico
[DeviceInstall]
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC. |

As Andy has said, the Autorun.inf file is what dictates which icon is displayed (in Windows PC's).
So you need an icon and the .inf file AND it needs to be edited to reference the icon file. _________________ Darren Griffin |

[Sorry, I don't know how I got my post into the Speed Camera Forum. Is it possible to move it to the TomTom PND Forum please.]
Thanks Andy & Darren, no I hadn't seen another reply to this, although I did mention it in passing in another post.
The autorun.inf on the SD card is similar to your example and it still works correctly. It's actually
Quote: | [autorun]
action=Run TomTom HOME
open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom
icon=tomtom.ico
[DeviceInstall]
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC. |
The one in the internal memory which isn't working is
Quote: | [autorun]
action=Run TomTom HOME
open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom
icon=tomtom.ico
[DeviceInstall]
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC. | I'm not sure how it could be edited because both the original icon and the fancy one is called tomtom.ico. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Rename the fancy one to 'calomax.ico' and then edit autorun.inf so the relevant line reads 'icon=calomax.ico' _________________ Darren Griffin |

.. or even just to "TT_SD.ico" if you don't want your name in lights! |

Thanks for your help with a trivial matter guys. I don't believe it but I just connected and went to my computer to try editing it, and the icon had put itself right without my having done anything at all to it. _________________ TT Go Essential |
