hi can some one help me please i have a go 700 with built in hard drive working perfectly. i have been offered a go 700 the one with an sd card but no maps. what i want to find out is can i copy my maps to an sd card from my 700 and use that sd card in the 700 without maps? i don't think it is classed as piracy as i am only using official tomtom maps from my original tomtom |

It IS piracy as each map is locked to an individual device. You need to purchase a map for each device in turn. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Besides which Falkirk81 is right on the piracy issue. _________________ Richard

Afraid with maps it is just like with computer software... you haven't bought a map at all, you've just bought a *licence* to use one.
What the exact terms of the licence are, is up to whoever sells it - often with software it lets you install it on both your work and your home PCs or on upto a certain number of PCs.
With TomTom, the licence says the map is for use on ONE device only. |

Will what work? Copying a map from one device to another?
In a word, NO.
As I mentioned in my first post, the maps are locked to each device. If you do try it, it will simply not work. Most likely scenario is a screen with 'No maps found' on the device! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE
