Hazarding a guess, it MIGHT be a problem with the CLASS of the cards, meaning it might be too slow for the nuvi. I believe the minimum usable class is 6 (but I'm not sure). You may find the thread "16GB Sandisk MicroSd" in "Pocket GPS World Forum Index - Windows Mobile - Pocket PC/Smartphone" of interest, as an example.

The Guide from the Garmin site isn't any help, except that it mentions purchasing additional cards - if you followed that lead, the Help Desk may assist.

hi.
i tried 4GB Sandisk SD card recently and works perfectly. it was restarting sometimes, but that was maps issue. the firmware in my unit is up-to-date tough, which might be important in this case.
i hope it helps.

SanDisc 2Gb microSD card in matching adapter. Very cheap from Amazon.
Works perfectly in my nuvi 255wt.

This may be a Kingston related problem. I have a 255WT and ran into this problem with a 2Gb 120x Kingston card where the whole thing hung. I haven't tried another manufacturer yet.
