Following on from the success of my 2 recertified units, a 720 & 920 of which i got LMG's on both when i bought them.
I recomended to a friend a recertified 720 which she bought.
The unit came with NA v710 map, so after upgrading to v8.302 app i went for the LMG through home.
This came up as expired, kind of expected that as this happened to me.
So next copied the invoice and emailed it to TT asking for help getting the LMG to work.
Their answer, recertified units no longer come with the LMG, unless when you buy it, it has a voucher inside the box.
Well this one didn't, so having had experiance with TT i called customer support, where they re afffirmed that they no longer support the LMG with recert's.
So i asked for a supervisor, and asked them how they could just drop this when i had got an LMG with both mine. The answer was it was a management decision!
So i asked how do you know what map you are getting from an approved dealer of recert's until you get it home and switch it on? Obviously you don't so its now a lottery of what you might get.

I did manage to finally get a v815 map out of him as i told him that the lady was interested in the new map update offer (finally here in the US) and so could he help with getting a newer map before we updated to the latest map and signed up to the update service.

After getting the v815 it was $11.40 to get the latest map and then $47.50 to get the 4 updates, which wasn't too bad.

The moral of the story, don't accept the first answer and badger them until you get something. Oh and they don't now support LMG for recert's.

I think the key point here is that they used to offer the LMG and now don't. Apart from in forums, did they ever cstate publically that LMG was included?

To be honest I was surprised that they used offer LMG bearing in mind these were reconditioned and sold at a healthy discount but a good result for you.

But refurbs in Britain DO come with the LMG, I believe and, I also think a 12 month warranty. Am I not correct in this?

Anyway, yeah, about 2 months ago, TT America (quietly) pulled the plug on the LMG for refurbs in North America. Mind you, I am aware the occasional user has lucked out in getting a sympathetic CS person on the phone who has added the current map to the user's account, even without a certificate.

I wonder if this is just TT NA or if this now applies to EU as well. I'll ask.
