OK, here is an odd one.

I have TTN6 with UK and Ireland maps on my HTC Touch Diamond. I bought Southern Africa maps using TT Home for £39.95. For some reason TT also downloaded and installed the Western Europe maps at the same time (which are also supposed to be £39.95)

Now I am not complaining. Wink But are Tom Tom doing a BOGOF?

Yep, sure is. Mind you I have just discovered it is version 660.129, not 675. So maybe the BOGOF is limited to out of date stock! Still never look a gift horse in the mouth.

Some of us think v660 was much better than v675. Unfortunately (because I've got it on my HTC too, from a previous purchase), it doesn't have the latest London Congestion Charge zone. Sad

Dennis,

In what way is v6.60 map better then v6.75?

Cheers

MPW

PS - I have a LCCZ poi, not built into the maps but it does the job.

Because its a Navteq Map and shows later roads than teleatlas vers 675, its even later in my area than Teleatlas vers 7.25 and igo8.

Do you find v6.60 WE map slow to calculate routes?

Despite the main file size being approx 50mb smaller, it takes ages!

Calculation times, done as a Advanced Planning ( A to B ) ....

v6.60 v6.75
Journey1
13 miles 13 secs 2 secs

Journey2
1008 miles 6 mins 1m 35

Both maps held on 8Gb MicroSD card and changed over only by doing switch map method - not rebooting the software.

Thanks

MPW

Obviously my matrix didnt show as intended....

With map v6.60, it took 13 seconds to calculate a simple 13 mile journey.
for a 1008 journey it took a standing still 6 minutes!

With map v6.75, it only took 2 secs to calculate 13 miles worth, and only 1m 35 to get me to the costa dreamona.

Seems to be a vast difference, I never noticed such a difference on my mio168 using both versions, unfortunately no longer loaded so cant confirm times

The map I have got on the pda is v6.60 .1223

My wife has the v6.60 .1256 on her tomtom one.

Its a shame really as the 1223 version doesnt appear to have the road speeds on it, which i would love to have!

interesting - my wifes one which is .1256 does have the road speeds, and it includes the new roundabout at south couldon for the bypass ( but not the road!)

I dont really understand?

Just another quick pointer - v6.60 1223 says my trip to costa dreamona will be 15h53, v6.60 1256 is only 14h58, and my v6.75 .1409 is 15h05.

Thanks

On my HTC Advantage with TTN6, Western Europe Map 660.1219 took 25 seconds to calculate route to Glasgow, UK & ROI Map 675.1409 took 25 seconds. Western and Central Europe 675.1409 took 30 seconds.

Taking consideration of my fallibility, I guess it took the same on all three maps - I had expected W&CE to take longest because it's the largest map and UK&ROI to be quickest because it's the smallest.

But as you can see, there are different v660 maps around. I think some were Navteq and some Teleatlas. Maybe?

For further Information and to the best of my knowledge i believe these are the builds:-

WE 660 1223 TeleAtlas (856Mb)
WE 660 1256 Navteq (907Mb)
WE 675 1322 Navteq (912Mb)
WE 675 1409 TeleAtlas (922Mb)

UK 660 1223 (214Mb)& 675 1409 (246Mb) both TeleAtlas.
Pretty sure this is correct and hope it helps

Added: there is possibly more i am not aware of

Thanks all,

So going on the posts earlier on in this thread, do you think the best map to have would actually be the WE675.1322 as its Navteq and latest one?
( latest being for v6 )

That aside, I am at a lost of why my 2 maps are at different calc speeds?.

Regs

What I really like about this site is the way that the posts just wander gently off topic - it all seems somehow so British

But still no definitive answer on whether it was a true BOGOF or just luck that got me my "free" European maps

There are three possibilities.

1. Pure luck, don't tell anybody else!

2. You used to have a previous TomTom device for which you bought the map LESS THAN 12 months ago and your new device has been registered (as a change of device) against the account for the previous device. In this circumstance, the previously bought map is available for download for 12 months from original purchase date.

3. You downloaded that map under TT Home for a previous device and it's still on your PC. This is how I come to have two maps of Europe (v660 and v675) in addition to the UK & ROI v675 I paid for.
