TMC Subscriptions Between Units

Can anyone confirm it's ok to swap TMC units between Nuvis without making a mess with of the subscriptions? Need to test a TMC that doesn't appear to work and need to know if i swap it for one that does work on another unit i'm not going to transfer or lock out the subscrition.

Update: Found info from elsewhere. Subscription is locked to GTM Unit so can be swapped...

My traffic info used to work on Garmin 265T in the Edinburgh area ok, but for the past three or four weeks I only seem to be getting traffic info on south of the border, some 160 miles away from Edinburgh, and nothing for Scotland. Does anyone have an idea why?

I've always been curious about this. I have a GTM 12 with my Nuvi 310, is the subscription actually stored on the GTM12?

It appears so. I did notice in the past when you gt an update for the GTMxx units it loads to your Nuvi but nothing happens until you plug in the GTM unit. Then it starts an update procedure.

Yes, the subscription follows the cable, same with MSNDirect service.
