Hi all

Part of the troubleshooting a previous problem was to run a error scan on the TT hard disk, which found a couple of errors and left me with some recovered files in the FOUND.000 folder on the device. Since then the 'Home' and 'Favourite' icons are greyed out when planning a route - I can still search by address though.

If I do an automatic restore in HOME, will I be able to download the latest map again (paid for and downloaded the latest one yesterday)? Alternatively can I do a manual restore just by copying everything from the restore folder to the TomTom, excluding the Maps folder?

Thanks
Tim

I would guess that your mapsettings.cfg file in the map folder has been corrupted so make a copy of this file then try and restore by copying an older version from your backup folder. If you have made very few favourites and settings changes, you could delete the file altogether as the device will create a new one.

If this is not the problem your suggestion of copying everything from the backup folder to the device except the maps is the best way to restore.

You should find that your recently purchased maps are stored on the PC in your documents\tomtom\home\downloads folder. When running Home you should be able to reinstall downloaded maps by going into "add maps traffic voice etc" then clicking on the "more" green triangle until "items on my computer" appears and clicking on this will show what you have download (& saved) on your computer that can be reinstalled.

I guess that your corrupted files that have been placed in the found folder were caused by disconnecting the device from the PC when the PC was accessing it. Always use the disconnect option under device in Home before removing it or alternatively use safely remove or eject if accessing from windows explorer.

Hi - that was exactly it, the mapsettings.cfg file had presumably gone missing and a new one had been created. Copied back the file from the latest backup and all OK now. Many thanks!
