I am thinking of buying the Nuvi 255 but I don't think it has an external antenna input. I currently use a Holux 236 Bluetooth receiver. When I installed anti-UV and UA film on the car windows the signal was effected so much when in built-up areas that I now use an external antenna.

Does anyone have experience of using a 255 or similar Nuvi models with anti-UV and UA film?

Solar coated windscreens do not normally affect the current GPS chipsets. The Holux 236 has a SiRFIII receiver which is a modern design so I'm surprised that it was significantly affected by the UV film?

I am using the GPS in Bangkok where there are many elevated expressways. The Holux copes OK in most of the city but the combination of the film + tall buildings + under an expressway = lost signal. Before I fitted the film to the car I had no problems apart from a very hot car. The antenna now means I never lose the signal.

By the way is it possible to move this to the Nuvi PND forum or OK to repost there?

Thanks
