I only need the French TT maps for the occasional visit to France and probably never plan to visit the other European countries so it seems a little OTT to buy all the Euro Maps just to get French maps.

Is there another way?

I don't see the French maps sold separately but if I bought TT(France) in France presumably I would get the French maps only - would this be possible, cheaper etc?

possible yes, cheaper no. In the long run you end up "cheaper" getting the full monty. TomTOm had started to ussue smaller maps of holiday destinations, but these are few and far apart so your point of visit in France may not be amongst them.

Thanks Lutz

I can't help feeling that TT are marketing this incorrectly. I feel that if individual country maps were offered at say £40 each then many people would buy, but the cost of the full European set is out of court for many of us who only travel to the continent on holidays. The reality is that in the end If next year I go to Belgium ( another £40) and the next time Norway ( another £40) - in the end TT will get a much better return because I will probably sped more that the cost of the full set.

totally agree. They really should accelerate the "holiday locations" part. Unfortunately there's been mostly silence in this area. I also asked them for US holiday locations and all I got was a definite maybe...

Surely the Major Roads of Europe (MRE) bundled with each country set is enough for most people's needs once a year ? At least, it's with every country/region set I've seen so far....

MRE might be nice to get there (to your holiday location) but then it obviously misses on the little details. Even big cities will have just the post code of your final destination - I wouldn't want to rely on that. Unless all you want is to get to your hotel and stay there...

What about the European Route Planner ? Is this a detailed map that will show your location, but not do the guidance stuff ? If so it may be adequate.
I'm not sure what to buy because of this very reason, ie a 1 week holiday in France. I am not going to pay £115 just for this.

I am also concened about some of the negative comments on the TT bt device, and therefore tempted towards the Navman package. However, I'm not really making much progress with finding out what would be best for me.
