My Go 910 has decided to mutiny. One moment working fine. Next time refuses to power up. Endless pressing of the on button produces no result.
Yes, it's charged up and fails to work independently or when connected to a charger.
Examination of the booklets that came with it give no clue what to do if it needs repair, and no website address either. Google produces a cigar seller and lots of people selling Tom Tom. It's well out of guarantee.
Can anybody help?

Have you tried pressing the reset button on the underneath of the unit adjacent to the electrical connection strip - it is small so best tried with a pin - Mike |

Thanks. It burst into life!
How one is supposed to do that, in the car, in the dark, in the rain, I'm not sure.
It's failure to start left me stranded trying to find a Travelodge which was located off a roundabout which was surrounded by road works and cones just to disorientate me further, the Inn is in an industrial estate, and of course it was dark and raining. And that was once we had got there trying to use a road atlas! A what?!!
The stress this created was off the scale. One becomes dependent on technology.
If only I had known about said button – and I've had the thing for years!

Find a thin paperclip which will fit the hole of the reset button and clip it to the case that you carry the tomtom around in. Then it will always be with you if needed in an emergency. _________________ Paul |

Patrick, if you have had the device for years and only just needed the reset button you are very lucky, for most users they will have needed to press this far more frequently!
As pcaouolte has said keep something in the car that you can use to do this, I had to reset my 910 on the way home from the shop where I bought it and have perfomed quite a few since, at least you know how to get the device working again should it crash in future. The First Aid kit is always a handy source for a Safety Pin if need be.
One other bit of advice, have you made a full copy of the 910's hard drive to your PC using Windows Explorer? - I would seriously suggest you do this if you haven't already, and don't rely upon TomTom Home to do this as it used to mess up the Text To Speech files rendering the feature inoperative - Mike |

Thanks. It seems I have been lucky!
As for backup, I use a .bat file, called tomtom.bat
XCopy I:\*.* H:\tomtombk\*.* /D /S /Y
pause
Saves recopying existing stuff, only new and changed stuff gets done.
My TomTom gets allocated drive I, my backup disk is H.
Change drive letters to suit your machine!
