Whilst I am more than a bit miffed at finding the 720s from anywhere do not come with the latest map guarantee. Something I find bizarre as they are refurbed BY TomTom is the £7.95 a quarter for the year map up[grades the way round the problem ?

This pushes the cheapest 720 I can find up to £172...not far off the 920 or 730. But will it allow me to upgrade the maps to 8.15 ?

Just to clarify (and we asked this Q of TomTom some time back). New x20's come with LMG and so do TomTom Refurb's.

Any that do not are not official refurbs endorsed and supported by TomTom. Perhaps they are customer returns etc that the retailer has chosen to re-sell.

Of course, the problem here is establishing what is and what is-not an official TomTom factory refurb, something the retailers do not make very clear in some cases and in some they appear to be selling both which makes it even more confusing!

Thats what I thought Darren. Yet according to both handtec and totalpda they sell TT refurbed 720s and both say they do not come with the LMG. Check the sites out...both state they are "manufacturer refurbs and in totalpda's case actually have a "?" drop down that explains the difference.

I'm going to email them both again and ask the question in a different way.

"Are the 720s you sell manufacturer refurbished by Tom Tom as you claim in the product details ? I am asking because you have told me they do not come with the Latest Map Guarantee and TomTom say that items refurbished by them do come with the guarantee. If you can confirm this I will be happy to reorder"
