Incorrect date on Tomtom 730

Something strange has happened to my 730, running navcore 8.3 and V815 maps.
When I prepare a route, and choose specific date and time it always comes up with Thursday 1st January 1970.
I have found out how to change the time on my device, but cannot see a date option anywhere. Any help on this please as I will wear out the screen to scroll through the months to get to 2008

Does your device have GPS position fix when it displays the strange date? - if not put it near a window and see what happens when it knows where it is - the data and time are available to the device from the GPS signal - Mike

Cheers Mike. I let it get a GPS fix and then had to switch the device off/on but it is now showing the correct date.
