whats your thoughts as regards fitting a GPS unit in front of an air vent in the car, would this cause condensation in the GPS after some time ,and in the summer with AC running what you reckon??

I doubt it, the biggest issue is the sturdiness of the vent mounts and their attachments. Some work better than others and of course all are dependent on your vents being suitable.

Don't bother,I bought one for a 510 and I had to cut it out of the vents to get it off. It was a real nightmare, it was to long and never sat at the right angle.
Complete waste of money (and time)

I have had Brodit Clips which were situated over the vents and never had any issues with condensation etc. So long as you can live any issues resulting from the vent being obscured then its a good solution.

You can see from the position of the pro clip in my Disco (couldnt find a RHD photo). I have used this arrangement for 18+ months without any condensation issues.

The only drawback is a reduced flow of aircon to the driver on those occasional hot days.

BTW don't aicon units have a drying device incorporated to prevent condensation?

Was using mine at -5C this am to demist the screen! And we are further North here in Cheshire Laughing

My BRODIT mount is placed in front of the centre-passenger's side air vent - which I close off. (There are two central vents on my car as well as side vents and side window vents - that 's German thoroughness for you (VW BORA)). The unit doesn't seem to get either too cold or too warm.
