|

I've just got my new TT740, and find that I can't navigate to a POI from a POI file that is more than 30 miles away. Is this right, or have I missed something. I can understand it not wanting to list everything in all files, but why can't I say "show me all the POIs in this list" and select one?
The only solution seems to be to select POI near a city, but that means I have to remember a nearby city, which is daft.

- Navigate to
- Point of interest
- POI near you
- Select category
- Select Find
Type in part of the POI name and it will allow you to select it regardless of distance. _________________ Darren Griffin |

On the TT ONE you can nav to any poi.
Navigate to
Point of Interest
POI near you
on the next screen shown - tap the next page icon
on the next screen shown - tap the down icon
it will then shows all poi's, just select the type you need, then select the one at the distance you need. |

Unfortunately, the list is limited to 48* locations nearest to you. (well it is on my 920 runing navcore 8.300 and W & C Europe map 815.2003).
*Edit
Using method
Navigate to / Point of Interest / POI near you / Tap the next page arrow icon / selelect POI category _________________ Mick

Okay, thanks for that. I seem to have missed the next screen option. It still limits it to POIs only 113M from me, but by typing part of the name it filters and shows the POI which is 150M away.
Phew, it is still possible. I guess I just haven't used that for a while (on my old 910). Thanks all! |

Wow, I must have picked a poi with only a few locations when I tried this, so the distance was upto 98 miles away. But have just tried this again with others and can only choose from the 24 nearest.
Why have TT put:
POI near you
Does not make any sense.
Sorry my first post was wrong. |

Ok, how about:
Browse map, select the area in which the POI is located. Then select the quarter circle button and 'Find POI nearby'.
This is similar to POI Near you but uses the Browse map location as the starting point.
Does that work for you? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It only SHOWS you the nearest 24 (or 48 on latest software) but the "FIND" feature searches through ALL of the POI file.
In other words, If I was in Cornwall, I could still search for supermarkets in "Glasgow" |

Me thinks the TomTom engineers have been at work on navcore 8.300.
What ever way I try, i can only get 48 locations listed _________________ Mick

Only if you know the POI name! I wanted to go somewhere once, but the name of the POI didn't have the right details. It was sort of like "Town centre" in the Tesco POI list, rather than being "Tesco Glasgow Centre". |

I guess it would, but it is rather an odd way of managing things given all I want is a list of the items in a file, which could be alphabetical to show all perhaps? As it happens, I was just setting up my favourites which don't have this limit, but does have a limited number of course. |

I didn't say it wasn't but it is a work-around. As your Favourites are limited to 22 they really can't be compared.
If you have a number of favourites, save them in a custom POI group. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Oddly enough, it is a custom POI that I'm trying to access - one of them being my mother's house. 8-) |

How many POIs do you have in your custom POI?
This is a strange system, I confess I haven't really noticed it before as I tend to navigate to either an address or a POI in a custom group and don't have that many POIs within.
I'll raise it with TT. _________________ Darren Griffin |

In what way doesn't it make sense?
It gives you the nearest POIs to your current location. _________________ Anita
