I bought WE map 810 on 15th September, just before the update service was announced. At that time, TT support said it wouldn't be worth joining the update service yet because my map was new.

On about 15th November, 2 months later, I signed up for the update service so I could get WE 815. I had to pay an extra £8.95 because HOME said my map was 1 quarter old. I have asked TT Support about it while emailing about another problem and the answer was simply that my map was 1 quarter old. when I queried that, again while discussing the other problem, my question was ignored.

So, does anyone here know if TT take 1 quarter old to mean as soon as you purchase the map please?

Q1 Jan - Mar
Q2 Apr - Jun
Q3 Jul - Sep
Q4 Oct - Dec

So it's possible if they use such arbitrary guides that a map bought 30th Sep is one quarter old on 1st Oct!

Darren, thank you Supreme Angel , I hadn't looked at it that way and it makes more sense now. It wasn't the amount of cash but the thought that perhaps TT was getting something out of me that they shouldn't.

I'd hope the line isn't drawn quite so definitively but I guess they have fixed release schedules so this type of system is necessary.

Of course once you get your first free subscription map you will be running on their schedule so it will only be an issue at the beginning.
