I'm having a play with my new 940 and have paired it with my mobile (Nokia 6300). It seems that the only "handsfree" thing I can do from the 940 is to bring up the phone book onto the TT.
Now that's not very good. It means leaning forward, scrolling down the list of items in the phone book until the right number comes up.
According to the manual, it's not possible to select from a list using voice control. But what's the purpose of handsfree if you need your hands to control it? |

From a legal view point, I believe it is legal to operate a device in this way. It is only illegal to actually hold a device to use it, not merely to operate it with your hands. IANAL. |

Have you tried the spoken commands associated with the phone to see what they do or offer - I cannot check this as my device isn't here:
Call
Call Back
Call Home
Phone
Phone Back
Phone Home

Hmmm... possibly. I haven't read the letter of the law. But I would think there's a lot more attention paid to browsing down through a long list of a windscreen-mounted satnav than there is tapping in a phone number you know by heart directly on the phone's keypad while holding it in your lap.

I've tried "phone" to which the TT suggests I might want to phone. I then say "call", and it suggests "call" and shows me the phonebook from the phone. That's where it falls down. It doesn't help to speak the name of an entry in the phonebook, it doesn't help to say "home" and it doesn't help to say "one" (which works for selecting the first option when using voice commands to determine a destination).
So I guess it's just the way it is |

I haven't read it all either and I certainly never claimed the law made sense!! |

Sadly, I'm anal retentive enough that I'd actually *like* to be able to make and receive phone calls in the car without having to touch anyting apart from the steering wheel. |
