help!!!!! for tom tom one

Could anyone please help regarding my tom tom one original-immaculate not often used and now no sound except if you plug earphones in. I've tried backing up to no avail and strangely when I've reset the unit the first time (only) I get the tom tom drumming noise but then no sound unless I use earphones.
Is this device knackered or is there a remedy. I thought maybe the software was faulty but haven't a clue where I would find it in a backup file to overwrite that in the device.

The original One was rather prone to actual loudspeaker failure, but if you are getting the drum roll sound OK, it isn't that.
So it must be a software issue, and I seem to remember reading about this exact issue before (so it might be worth doing some word searches to see if you can find it).
As a first suggestion, if you haven't already, download and install TomTom "Home" on your PC, then you will be able to re-install and update the software on the One. Hopefully that will fix it.

But before you do, make sure you make a full backup of your system as it is now, using Windows Explorer, not Home. Instructions are in the FAQs in the TomTom section of this forum (which is also a better place to post!).
