New Ford Focus SD/CD SAT-NAV problem, help please.

Hi, Ive had my new Focus for a couple of weeks now and there is still a setting which is baffling me on the sat-nav.

The screen brightness has 3 settings. 1, daytime brightness. 2, night time brightness. 3, Auto (Dependant on headlight operation) so the book says!

When in auto mode the daytime and night time settings become un-usable.

However the satnav screen only dims by a tiny amount when you put your lights on, its causing glare when driving in the dark.

I have also tried setting night time brightness down low in manual mode then selecting auto in the hope it would use these values but still no good.

Any help would be appreciated.

The brightness of the CD Navigation Unit screen when set to Auto is controlled by the setting of the console dimmer (next to the headlight dial)

I found this rather annoying too as it results in you having to turn the brightness of the whole dashboard down because the unit is so much brighter.
