I have a XDA Orbit with TomTom Navigator installed. If I put the phone in phone offline mode (or Airplane mode as it's sometimes called) TomTom behaves in a strange manner - it can see the GPS radio and the map moves as expected when driving in the car. However, none of the navigation aspects work, including the voice, displayed speed or arrows showing the next manoeuvre and distance to go etc, until the phone is turned back on. This is despite the phone signal not being used for anything in the application.

Is there any way around this as the sim card in it is my work one and I really don't want to be receiving calls as I'm on holiday this coming week.

Thanks in advance.

Put a Pay As You Go SIM card in it from the same network your phone is currently using ie O2 or whoever, it won't cost more than a tenner and you can sill use the phone yourself if need be - Mike

Cheers, I'm aware I can do that but I find it ridiculous that the application needs a sim card in and the phone running for it to work. Other than the data downloads in 'TomTom Services' (which I have deactivated anyway) there is nothing the phone is used for.

I guess it's just something TomTom didn't put much thought to when making the application.

Cheers for the reply.
